Did you know that YouTube has reached a milestone of over 4 billion global video views per day? Mind boggling statistics such as these on social media usage prompted me to create this slideshow. The first couple of slides explain why you should optimize your content for social media (for most people this part is elementary, but I’ve included it in for the fun factor and the mind boggling statistics). I’ve also included different steps that you can take so that your audience can easily share your content across their varied networks.
I recently uploaded this slideshow on SlideShare and am pleasantly surprised at how many views it has already received. SlideShare is a social media channel that enjoys a loyal viewership base and is an extremely powerful medium. If you haven’t already, I recommend that you share your content on SlideShare to increase awareness for your brand or product.
What are you doing to optimize your content for social media? Please share your thoughts and ideas.

Gazalla, this is a great video. Kudos to you! The data may have been available already but you presented it in a really memorable way.

Maybe the title could by ‘Why’ rather than ‘How’

Thank you for making that point. I was struggling back and forth with the title. Why You Need Social Media vs How to… Finally, I chose How to.. only because I wanted to highlight the last few slides which talk about how to optimize content. After your feedback, I’m considering pushing the video to the last slide so that it’s more relevant to the title. I appreciate your feedback.

Wow, that slideshare and video sure pack quite a punch! Speaking of Slideshare and optimizing for content, I find it surprising how few brands, and even individuals, forget to integrate this tool within their channels. On LinkedIn, for example, you can integrate the Slideshare application on your profile, so it can be a great way to showcase expertise, demonstrate customer service or highlight employee benefits, depending on the angle one wants to give.
Great presentation, Gazalla!

That’s a good point. I didn’t know that you could integrate SlideShare into LinkedIn. I’m going to look into it. Thanks for the idea.

I think foundations of optimising content for social media are:
1. How helpful and engaging content you are creating
2. Is that easy to digest ? (People don’t have time)
If you are answering these question well, it means you are building a solid foundations and then all the things you mentioned in the slideshare can help to spread the message.

Awesome video. The statistics absolutely blow me away. I’ve seen them individually, but its a great idea to put them all together. I agree with Abigail, however, the title is a bit confusing.

I agree. I think that the title is a bit confusing. I think that I’m going to push the video to the last slide (the why…) and let the how to be the first few slides.
Thanks for your feedback. It’s a big help.

Wow, what a great slideshow! Some awesome information in there.
Agree with Rana’s comment and think it’s super important to be posting helpful and engaging content that is easy to digest.
These 2 points are ones that I see businesses not catching on to time and time again when I am assessing their social media presence. Most people think they need to post everything at once.
Thanks for a great slideshow to refer to.

Thanks for your feedback Phillipa. I agree with both you and Rana. The content must be helpful and easy to digest for audience engagement and interaction.

Good topic and information. Personally, I prefer to hear a voiceover as I go through an online slide presentation because it helps me to retain all of the information. I haven’t used SlideShare yet, so I don’t know if that is an option. What are your thoughts?
Gazalla Gaya says
You make an excellent point Karen. This was the first time that I tried SlideShare so I simply uploaded a PowerPoint presentation and then embedded the video but I know that you can do everything from within PowerPoint by downloading the SlideShare ribbon for PowerPoint.
I know that SlideShare also allows voice sync, so visitors can hear a narration of, as well as see your presentation. I’m going to try that next. Thanks for the idea.
